Please be advised that there will be a Norfolk Southern railroad rail gang working causing several potential closings throughout Washington County, Maryland and Jefferson County. Those affecting Jefferson County, with possible work dates, are listed below with railroad mileposts as an indicator for proximity to each other.

High Street, Shepherdstown: Milepost 16.50 (May 1-3 and May 5-8)

German Street, Shepherdstown: Milepost 16.60 (May 1-3 and May 8-9)

Washington Street, Shepherdstown: Milepost 16.80 (May 1-3 and May 8-9)

Morgan Drive Road, Milepost 17.80 (May 1-3 and May 8-9)

These roads may be closed twice. The first time will be by the rail gang who is responsible for laying new rail through the crossing. The second time will be when the surfacing gang comes through to pave the crossings. The number of crossings closed at one time can vary. Most of the time the gang works between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The railroad will attempt to have crossings open for traffic during the overnight hours unless it is impossible, again depending on the work involved with each specific crossing. Please keep in mind the schedule can change.
