The Friends of Music have donated 13 ukuleles to the music program at Charles Town Middle School.

The instruments were presented during a music class at the school on Thursday, April 27.

The ukuleles are Diamond Head Soprano models. The Friends said they are widely regarded as good quality, workhorse instruments ideal for school use. Together, they are valued at $500.

Mrs. Allen said they are wonderful instruments for beginners and will be used for several different classes. She said they are much better than the ukuleles her students have been using.

Friends of Music President Kenneth Mann said this donation is part of a larger effort by the Friends of Music to help support music education in local schools. He said the organization is dedicating a total of $3,500 to that purpose this year.
