Gardeners Exchange to meet
The Gardeners Exchange Group meets May 20 at 9 a.m. at the Yankauer Nature Preserve with a program featuring Herb Peddicord, a Chesapeake Bay Watershed Forester of the WV Division of Forestry. He will speak about undeveloped woodlands, using the preserve as an example.
Peddicord will discuss forest succession in the Eastern Panhandle. The group will learn about the normal replacement of plants in the forest over time and the human impacts of this succession. Peddicord will lead a short walk along some of the Yankauer trails and will discuss some of the native and invasive plants.
Breakfast starts the program at 9 a.m. If possible, please bring a breakfast dish, extra plants, a chair and enthusiasm. Children are welcome. The program begins at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine.
