Ripe for the Eating

Chronicle photo by Vanessa McGuigan The Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardeners held their annual Tomato Fest at Morgan’s Grove Park on Aug. 26. There were 28 varieties of tomatoes on display, with names like Cherokee Purple, Rutgers, WV Hillbilly, Old German, Red Zebra and Garden Peach. The first place winner was Cherokee Green, grown by Cathy Sigalas. Second and third place respectively were Santa Maria, grown by Ed Guzik, and WV Hillbilly, grown by Bob Burlett.
