FIRST WEEKEND

6-7:30 p.m. Civil War Christmas in Shepherdstown programming starts with a concert and discussion. The concert will feature the Village Brass Quintet playing 19th Century music of the Civil War and of the season. This will be followed by a 7 p.m. discussion, “Civil War and the Environment,” by John Martin McMillan and Dr. James Broomall. Reynolds Hall, King Street.

Friday, Dec. 1

3-6:30 p.m. Civil War Christmas event: Establishment of winter encampment. Speak to soldiers, watch them set up their camp, drill, fire their weapons, and prepare to make their evening meal. In the yard behind the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War, German Street.

4:30-8 p.m. Annual Christmas Dinner*. Shepherd University Dining Hall, East Campus.

6:30-7:30 p.m. Civil War Christmas event: Program at the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church, Washington Street. Stephen A. Goldman, MD, FAPM, DFAPA, will present a program entitled “How Innovation and Dedication Improved Transportation, Medical and Surgical Care, and Hospital Treatment of the Union Wounded.”

7:30-9 p.m. Civil War Christmas event: Candlelight Tour of Shepherdstown Field Hospitals and Military Encampment. Meet outside the Presbyterian Church.
