SHEPHERDSTOWN – Several members and leaders of Boy Scout Troop 33 in Shepherdstown successfully completed all requirements for open-water scuba diving certification as set forth by Scuba Diving International.

The final certification dive took place Aug. 1 at Lake Rawlings, Va. Classroom and swimming pool training took place at the Hagerstown YMCA. The diving course was taught by the staff at Blue Marble Diving of Hagerstown.

The Scouts are planning a high adventure diving trip to the Bahamas. Their plans include a week at sea aboard a scuba sailboat. The Scouts will have the opportunity to engage in sailing, snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving and discovering the beautiful outer islands of the Bahamas.

Troop 33 meets every Tuesday evening at New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown.
