Concert to aid area battlefield
SHEPHERDSTOWN – The 6th annual concert to benefit the Shepherdstown Battlefield Preservation Association Inc. is set to be held at the Shepherdstown Train Station. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and entertainment will begin at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17.
Entertainment will be provided by the popular acoustic jazz blues band The Gypsy Ramblers.
A $10 donation at the door is requested. Free food and soft drinks will be available, as will adult beverages for a small donation.
This year’s concert will feature, among other items, an auction of a three-hour VIP tour of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park for up to 10 people with an estimated value of $200; a three-hour tour of Antietam National Battlefield guided by historian Thomas Clemens for up to four people with an estimated value of $100.
In addition, the Loudoun County-based Doukenie Winery has donated a private wine tasting for the winner and up to 12 guests at the winery’s Heritage Club Room with a face value of $150.
The Shepherdstown Battlefield Preservation Association Inc., organized in 2004, is a nonprofit, Section 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving and preserving the site of the 1862 Battle of Shepherdstown. SBPA has preserved 84 acres by way of conservation easements granted by members who own property on the site.
