Sharpsburg festival slated

SHEPHERDSTOWN – On Sept. 18, the Sharpsburg Heritage Festival will host a free, day-long event showcasing the town’s rich cultural diversity and heritage.

Artists, authors, an antique car exhibit, yard sales, storytelling, informative displays about Sharpsburg’s history and community will be featured, while music fills the air with the sounds of merriment.

The Sharpsburg Fire Department will start the morning off with a hearty breakfast that they will serve from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Fire Department.

Join us in the main square at 10 a.m. to kick off the day’s events with the patriotic music of the Rohrersville Band.

During the day make yourself comfortable in the food court and enjoy flavorful local fare in addition to other events scheduled during the day, such as the Arts Market, Dutch Oven Cook Off, several regional authors, storytelling, trolley rides and living history displays.

Local and regional musicians will be featured during the day from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., including Sharpsburg residents Kelly Carmicheal; Hucklebuck; The Gary Jackson Blues Band from Chambersburg, Pa.; Skyla Burrell Blues Band; Shepherdstown’s best kept secret, the Golden Butter Band; and the 2nd Maryland Drum an Fife will perform throughout the day and lead the Candlelight Alley Walk through historic Sharpsburg at 7 p.m. For more details visit the following site: www.sharpsburgheritagefestival.org
