Sewer bond being considered
Shepherdstown is growing and will continue that growth.
“The existing sewer treatment facility has reached full capacity. The facility needs to be upgraded in order to handle much more volume,” said Amy Boyd, town clerk.
There is a bond measure to get the required loan of approximately $9.3 million. The loan is being secured against the revenues of the sewer, not the land, and the town is getting it for 0 percent interest for 30 years. No increase in rates will occur.
The second public reading of the bond took place on Sept. 21. The next will be announced on the Town Council’s website at www.shepherdstown.us.
Town Council meetings take place at the temporary Town Hall located at 207 S. Princess St. Unit 12 is on the second floor, with entrances on the south side of the building. The meetings take place on the second Tuesday of every month.
