HUNTINGTON (AP) – Marshall University is proposing raising undergraduate tuition and fees by 6.9 percent for the next academic year.

The increase is part of Marshall’s proposed 2011-2012 budget. The Herald-Dispatch reports that the university’s Board of Governors will consider the budget proposal at its meeting Thursday.

If approved, in-state undergraduate tuition would increase from $1,944.50 to $2,076. Nonresident students would pay $5,477, an increase of $242. Tuition for metro students would increase by $302 to $3,572.

Graduate students would pay $13,480, a 4.5 percent increase.

The Standard Auxiliary Fee would increase by $50 per semester. All students must pay the fee.
