Personnel honored at retirement dinner

CHARLES TOWN – With a cumulative total of 198 years of service, 12 Jefferson County Schools’ Service Personnel were treated to a retirement dinner at T.A. Lowery Elementary School on May 22.

Terri Young, president of the Jefferson County Schools’ Service Personnel Association, welcomed the retirees and guests. After the invocation by Beverly Dawson, vice president of the organization, everyone enjoyed a buffet prepared by the cafeteria staff at the school.

Following remarks by Superintendent of Schools Susan K. Wall and Jefferson County Board of Education Vice President Gary Kable, the retirees were introduced and various members of the audience acknowledged each retiree with remarks and memories they shared.

Following tradition of earlier years, each of the retirees received a rocking chair, purchased from Cracker Barrel by the Service Personnel Association.

The retirees included Susan L. Blue (16 years), Louise S. Clem (44 years), James R. Constant (15 years), Beverly L. Fowler (28 years), Evelyn D. Hollida (18 years), Judy M. Johnston (12 years), Marian L. LaRue (34 years), Lanty C. Mullens (12 years), Nancy E. Renner (30 years), Marlene L. Ricketts (15 years), Linda J. Sigler (19 years), Elizabeth “Sue” Staubs (24 years), and Elizabeth A. Wilt (31 years).
