Following up on the Thanksgiving Weekend celebration of the founding of Shepherdstown a quarter of a millennium ago, this coming weekend promises to be every bit as exciting and even more fun.

The annual Shepherdstown Christmas Parade will kick-off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. Always a regional favorite, this year the parade includes many more entries all paying tribute to Shepherdstown 250: Remember – Celebrate – Imagine, commemorating the proud history, an exciting present and the ongoing promise of the oldest town in the state of West Virginia.

The Opening Holiday and Birthday Celebration continues Dec. 2 through 4 with the Holiday Parade, free horse drawn carriage tours through town, a model train show at the Train Station, an ice sculpture festival and much more.

The Christmas Bazaar at the War Memorial Building, the Friends of Music Holiday Gala at the Frank Center, and the 250 anniversary quilt signing continues. Live music and more memorable acts will entertain visitors and participants throughout the weekend. The town is brightly lit and alive with little shops full of one-of-a-kind gifts for holiday giving.

Participating Organizations for Christmas in Shepherdstown include the Corporation of Shepherdstown, Historic Shepherdstown Commission, Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown, Rotary Club of Shepherdstown, Shepherd University, Shepherdstown Ministerial Association, Shepherdstown Business Association, Shepherdstown Visitors Center, Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department and State of West Virginia.
