Bavarian Inn earns Four Diamond rating
While diamonds are commonly known as a girl’s best friend, brothers David and Christian Asam recently added to their collection of diamonds after receiving the AAA Four Diamond rating for the Bavarian Inn and Dining Room.
Located in Shepherdstown, the Bavarian Inn is a 72-room resort that was one of two West Virginia hotels to receive AAA’s Four Diamond rating and the only restaurant in the state. The Bavarian Inn has consecutively received the rating since 1983, and the hotel’s dining room has earned the standard since 2001.
“We’re obviously thrilled. Each year, it’s a huge honor and award for us. It’s something that we strive to maintain and achieve each year. It’s really a benefit and kudos to our staff and to all the employees here who really execute what the game plan is,” David said.
AAA bestows Four Diamond ratings to establishments offering superior comfort and refinement and pamper guests with specialized amenities and personal attention from staff, a standard David said The Bavarian strives to provide to each guest and visitor.
David lists the resort’s extra efforts as amenities including rooms with a private balcony, jacuzzi tub, plush bathrobes, specialized soap, high-quality linens and gas fireplaces. Additionally, each guest receives a complimentary apple basket with each stay.
“We strive to provide excellent service and an excellent product. We’re very thankful because it kind of (acknowledges) the hard work that we put in year-round. Plus, it shows that our guests are truly having a great experience, and that’s the No. 1 thing. We want every single guest to have an amazing experience every time they come,” David said.
In an effort to continue providing guests with a memorable experience, the Bavarian Inn is in the process of building a new swimming facility to open this May. An Infinity Edge swimming pool will be accompanied with a small building featuring a pool bar, restrooms, and food and beverage services.
Like the high standard of service and luxury applied to the hotel, the Bavarian Inn Dining Room is held to the same standard. Whether a guest or resident is looking for an intimate dinner, family brunch or filling lunch, David said all dining needs can be fulfilled and exceeded at the Bavarian.
The Bavarian provides for dining in any atmosphere, offering the Dining Room for upscale meals as well as a casual dining area, outdoor patio seating and the Rathskeller bar area. Each dining area features the same menu.
“We change our menu seasonally from wild game in the winter to seafood festival in the spring to a farm-to-table menu in the summer time. We work with a lot of the local farms to get some of the best local ingredients that we can, because there’s so much wonderful local farmland around here,” David said.
The Bavarian Inn and Dining Room is part of only 5.3 percent of more than 29,000 AAA/CAA approved hotels to earn a Four Diamond rating level.
David credits the staff of the Bavarian Inn and Dining Room, saying their efforts and hard work are integral to the quality of the resort.
David also acknowledged Shepherdstown as one of the reasons The Bavarian Inn has become a destination spot among tourists.
“We’re very excited about all of the great things that are happening in this town, from the recreational activities with the white water rafting to the hiking and biking to working with the Appalachian Trail to the C&O Canal to the great shops in town and obviously the historic area between Harpers Ferry and Antietam,” David said.
“This is a really central place that people enjoy coming to. It’s becoming a destination town and hopefully we are helping to be part of that destination by having a quality resort here,” he said.
