By Staff | Mar 21, 2014

The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has inducted Andrew McMillan as a new member.

The induction ceremony was held at the Club’s March 4 regular breakfast meeting at the Bavarian Inn.

Andrew relocated to Shepherdstown in August, 2012, to become the Chief Operating Officer for the Jefferson Distributing Company in Martinsburg.

Andrew earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994 and a PhD in Chemistry from Emory University in 2000. He worked until 2005 as a Research Scientist with NASA at Moffett Field in California. He then moved into the venture capital field where he was affiliated with a number of firms operating in the biochemistry field specializing in pharmaceuticals.

Andrew and his wife, Kakie (also a UNC graduate) and their three young children reside in Cress Creek.

Both Andrew and Kakie are active in a number of organizations and Andrew maintains his involvement with UNC through serving as a member of the Graduate School Advisory Board and the Chemistry Department Advisory Board. Both of their families have a history of community involvement and charitable giving.

Andrew is shown on the left in the accompanying photo with longtime Club member John Loeffler.

The Shepherdstown Rotary Club’s membership now totals 58.
