The Shepherdstown Police Department is seeking volunteer auxiliary officers to assist the Police Department with town events such as parades and festivals. This is NOT a law enforcement position. Auxiliary Officers will not be armed or have any type of arrest powers. The Auxiliary Officers assist the Police Department with traffic control, road closures and other duties associated with working parades and events in Shepherdstown. The Auxiliary Officers would be under the direct supervision of a police officer. The auxiliary officers selection will be based on the following criteria:

1 Applicants must be at least 21 years of age

2 Applicants must be physically fit, be able to walk or be on their feet for long periods of time and work in all types of weather conditions

2 Applicants must be of sound mind and good moral character

3 Applicants must pass a background check

4 Applicants must have no felony convictions

5 Applicants must be willing to work weekends and holidays

6 Applicants will be under the direct supervision of a police officer

7 Applicants must have good interpersonal communication skills

8 Applicants must appear for an oral interview
