Community offers thanks

By Staff | Nov 21, 2014

The Shepherdstown Community Thanksgiving Service, sponsored by the Shepherdstown Ministerial Association, will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at the corner of King and High streets and will be hosted by the Shepherdstown Society of Friends (Quakers). The service begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, and will celebrate our shared harvest of gratitude, giving thanks for those events and moments that have enriched our lives and raised our spirits in the past year. The Shepherdstown Elementary School Chorus, Chelsea McBee with Lucia Valentine and St. John Baptist Church will provide music.

The offering of non-perishable goods and monetary gifts will benefit both the Jefferson County Community Ministries (JCCM) and Caring Cupboard, a faith-community supported program that provides nutritional weekend meals for Shepherdstown school children. The offering for Caring Cupboard should be in the form of checks or cash. The JCCM Food Pantry seeks non-perishable food items.
