Shepherdstown Police Sgt. Mike King stepped into the new role of Interim Police Chief Tuesday evening at the Shepherdstown Council meeting. King has been lead officer in the department since the resignation of Chief David Ransom in late May. Mayor Jim Auxer officially welcomes King to the position. Ransom, who stepped down for personal reasons, is now serving as a part time patrol officer for the town.
