Joel Arlen Stickler

Joel Arlen Stickler, 75, of Charles Town, entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home in the company of his beloved family.

Born Aug. 27, 1938, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Herbert Stickler and Flora Dively Stickler Price.

Joel attended Oakland United Methodist Church in Charles Town.

He served in the U.S. National Guard on active duty and reserves for six years.

He was a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens University, Lancaster, Pa. and became a master electrical contractor for over 40 years. He was a retiree of AT&T and later established his own electrical business, Stickler Electric. He worked for Michael F. Taylor Custom Structures for 23 years, as well as, many private individuals and businesses and was beloved and respected by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Pat; two daughters, Linda Nicodemus and Susan Luttrell and husband, Paul “Pete”; stepchildren, Diana Bello and husband, Arturo, Elaine Oliver and husband, Mark, “Neil” Donley and wife, Barbara, Rene’ Donley, wife of Shannon Donley; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Previously, he was deceased by his first wife of 23 years, Joyce M. Wolf, of Johnstown, Pa.; and stepson, Shannon Donley, of Molers Crossroads, Shepherdstown.

A memorial life tribute, officiated by Pastor Kent Tice and Pastor Joanne Alexander, will be held at Oakland United Methodist Church, 70 Oakland Terrace, Charles Town. Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, preceded by one hour visitation. A luncheon reception furnished by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oakland United Methodist Church will follow.
