Claire Elaine Redden

Claire Elaine Redden, 78, of Shepherdstown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Reeder’s Home in Boonsboro, Md.

Born March 6, 1935, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Ralph Smith and Helen Price Smith.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown.

Claire never met a stray dog or child that she didn’t want to adopt.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Edward Redden, of Shepherdstown; six children, Lisa Downs Gleason and husband, Chris, of Martinsburg, Charles Edward Redden II and wife, Carol, of Cary, N.C., Laura Lynn Sexton and husband, John, of Knoxville, Md., Jeffrey Paul Redden and wife, Heike, of Shepherdstown, Cody Ralph Redden and wife, Ellen Leiby, of Savannah, Ga., and Angela Noel Steffey and husband, Christopher, of Shepherdstown; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchil- dren.

Services will be held at a later date.
