Lawrence Edward “Mike” Long

Lawrence Edward “Mike” Long, 80, of Martinsburg, passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Born on April 17, 1933, in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late Howard H. Long and Mary Kaufman Long Prather.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was retired from the WV Air National Guard.

He was past Master Scottish Rite of Robert White #69 Post, past patron of Shepherdstown Chapter #155 Order of the Eastern Star, and was most recently affiliated with Golden Rule #69 of Martinsburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Louise Gano Long; and two brothers, Davy Long and Robert H. Long.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Brown Funeral Home, with the Rev. Al Clipp officiating.

Military graveside and Masonic services were held at Elmwood Cemetery.
