Gerline Betty Whirley
Gerline Betty Whirley, 83, of Inwood, died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at the Shenandoah Center, of Charles Town.
Born May 6, 1930 in Shepherdstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Mary Elizabeth Clemmens Breeden.
She was a member of Summit Point United Methodist Church, Summit Point.
She was retired from Veterans Administration after 40 years of service. She later worked at AB&C Group for a number of years.
She is survived by one son and wife, Douglas R. Dick and Sharon, of Martinsburg; three daughters and their husbands, Betty A. Shipley and husband, Garry, Deborah S. Loughry and husband, Paul, both of Shepherdstown, and Marsha G. Burkhart and husband, Anthony, of Bunker Hill; many grandchildren; great and great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Paul Breeden, of Kearneysville.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn R. Dick; her husband, Robert L. Whirley; three brothers, Junior Ashby, Albert, and Norman Breeden; and five sisters, Josephine Frye, Mary Stephens, Shelby Mose, Pauline Sweeney, and Louise Staubs.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Brown Funeral Home. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
