Clara M. (Pat) Brant Carter

Clara M. (Pat) Brant Carter, 80, of Shepherdstown, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Canterbury of Shepherdstown.
Born March 2, 1934 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Leo Raymond Brant Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Kerns.
She was a member of Martinsburg High School, class of 1952.
In her early years she worked as a seamstress at Jefferson Garment Mill in Martinsburg, and the Lace Store, also in Martinsburg. For most of her life she was a homemaker, and ran Jefferson Ridge Tavern, in Shepherdstown, along with her husband. She later worked in the dietary department at Canterbury of Shepherdstown for over 16 years, until 2012. Pat enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and making homemade gifts for family and friends. This brought her so much joy.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles M. Carter Jr., of Shepherdstown; one son, Richard W. Brant and wife Linda, of Martinsburg; one daughter, Carla M. Schianodicola and husband Lenny, of Hagerstown; one stepdaughter, Barbara Eyler and husband Chuck, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one sister, Betty J. Warner, of Carlisle, Pa.; one brother, Leo Raymond Brant Jr. and wife Victoria, of Kearneysville; eight grandchildren, Kaysi Mcquain of Martinsburg, Andrew Senecal, of Port Charlotte, Fla., Rebekah, Jared, Libby, and Leah Brant, all of Martinsburg, and Raimondo and Giulianna Schianodicola, of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an aunt, and very best friend, Dorothy Widmeyer.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at First Baptist Church with the Pastor Ed Taylor officiating. Interment was private.
