Jeanne Alexander Dillard
Jeanne Alexander Dillard died on Mar. 31, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born in Sistersville, W. Va.
Jeanne was a believer in the value of lifelong education and completed a BS from Lander University, a MA from University of Puget Sound and Ph.D (all but dissertation) from the University of Maryland. She was a public school teacher living and working throughout the United States and ended her career teaching in elementary schools in Montgomery County, Md., from 1966 to 1985. She retired in Shepherdstown.
Jeanne lived an exciting life enjoying world travel (to most continents), playing Bridge, enjoying the company of her many friends and family, attending her church and cooking. She assured those close to her that she accomplished most of her dreams and had a long and wonderful life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George H. L. Dillard; one daughter, Jeanne Dillard Bouberhan; two brothers and one sister.
Jeanne is survived by two sons, George L. Dillard of Hartsburg, Mo. and David S. Dillard of Newark, Dela.; one sister, Rita Butler of Centerville, Ohio and seven grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
There will be a celebrating Mrs. Dillard on Saturday, April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of Shepherdstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
