Barbara “Bobbie” Hunter Kemp

Barbara “Bobbie” Hunter Kemp, age 90, of Shepherdstown, (formerly of Tucson, Ariz.) passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014.

She was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Hornick, Iowa and grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the youngest of seven children. Her parents were the late Matthew Bernard McGarr and Palmier Mary McGarr.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William C. Hunter and Emmerson Kemp.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Webster (Roger), of Shepherdstown; two sons, Craig Hunter (Becky), of Deep Creek, Md., and Tim Hunter (Kathy), of Marble, Colo. She leaves seven grandchildren, Matthew Webster (Rene), of Williamsburg, Va., Adam Webster (Kendra), of Morgantown, Amanda Webster, of Morgantown, Megan Hunter, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Molly Hanna (Andrew), of Atlanta, Ga., Alicia Hunter, of Denver, Colo., Eric Allison (Isaac), of New Castle, Colo., and David Sargus, of Aventura, Fla. In addition are her great-grandchildren, Harlan and Finley Webster, Evelyn Webster, and Lolarose and Keegan Hunter.

Bobbie was an active member and past president of the Tucson Lions Club. She also participated in several hiking clubs in Tucson.

She was an avid outdoor enthusiast and nature lover. One of her proudest moments was hiking the Grand Canyon to Mooney Falls when she was 70-years-old.

Bobbie was a kind, gentle, “young at heart” woman who passionately loved her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all.

Burial will be private. The family plans a memorial celebration at a later date.
