Elizabeth Shepherd (a.k.a Shep) Scott

Elizabeth Shepherd (a.k.a Shep) Scott passed away Friday, Apr. 18, 2014, just shy of her 93rd birthday.

Mrs. Scott was born June 18, 1921. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shepherd IV, of Shepherdstown.

She is survived by her son, Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Scott IV and her beloved granddaughter, Shepherd

McChesney Scott, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Rutter, of Bethania, N.C.; her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ringgold Shepherd, of Stow, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Pepper Scott III; her daughter, McChesney Scott Dunn; her brother, Henry Shepherd V; and her sister, Mary McLean Shepherd.

Shep graduated from St. Catherines School in Richmond, Va., and Sweet Briar College in Amherst, Va. She spent her married life in Wilmington, Del., where she served on many boards. After her husband passed away 1970, she worked at Patterson & Schwartz Real Estate Firm, as a successful real estate broker. When she retired and moved back to her hometown of Shepherdstown in 1991, Shep had happy years reconnecting with old friends, family and making many new acquaintances.

She later moved to Virginia Beach to be closer to her only granddaughter.

Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Shepherdstown. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
