William “Bill” Ray Unger

William “Bill” Ray Unger, 64, of Shepherdstown, died at his home on April 18, 2104.

Born Sept. 18, 1949, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Berkeley “Burke” and Pauline Courtney Unger, of Kearneysville. He graduated from Shepherdstown High School and attended Shepherd College.

He was a devoted father and grandfather.

He is survived by two sons, William “Bill” Unger Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Shepherdstown and Robert “Bobby” Unger and companion, Amanda Basenback, of Hawaii; two grandsons, Zachary Unger and Dylan Unger, of Shepherdstown; two sisters, Bernadine Everhart and Madeline Campbell, from Martinsburg; and a faithful friend, Sheila Brannon.

He enjoyed hunting and sports. He was a big fan of WVU football games. He owned and operated Bill Unger General Contracting and took great pride in his work. He was a true artist in masonry and has many monuments of his talent in the surrounding area.

He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. May 10 at Morgans Grove Park in Shepherdstown.
