Georgie W. Whitmer

Georgie W. Whitmer, 97, of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Shenandoah Center, Charles Town.

Born June 6, 1916 in Shepherdstown, she was the daughter of the late Julia B. (Ruse) Whitmer and Charles Wesley Whitmer.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Wesley C. Whitmer, Randolph Whitmer, Jack R. Whitmer, Charles Julian Whitmer and Horace Abner Whitmer.

Ms. Whitmer retired after 27 years as a teller with Peoples Trust Bank.

She was a member of Elk Branch Presbyterian Church, Duffields.

She was a graduate of Shepherdstown High School and attended Shepherd College.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Elk Branch Presbyterian Church, Duffields with the Rev. David Beeson officiating.

Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.

There will be no visitation.
