Maureen A. “Moe” Niji

Maureen A. “Moe” Niji, (nee Tabler), 56, of Hopewell Township, New Jersey, died peacefully at home with her family at her side on Sunday morning Aug. 10, 2014, after an 11 year battle with lung cancer.

The wife of Kenneth M. Niji, she was born in Martinsburg and was the daughter of Alvin Lee Tabler, of Falling Waters and Clara Virginia (nee Myers) Tabler, of Wilmington, North Carolina.

She was a graduate of Mussleman High School with the class of 1975 and attended Shepherd University in Shepherdstown.

For nearly 20 years she was an office manager for Dr. Ilyas Ahmed in Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey and prior to that worked in a similar capacity for Dr. Tol Ung Yoon in Bridgeton, New Jersey.

She attended the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeton and also sang in the choir.

She loved gardening and the beach in Ocean City and enjoyed going to the boardwalk.

Her family was the most important part of her life and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Deluca Baran (Harry Gates Jr.), of Bridgeton and Karen M. Niji, of Hopewell Township; two grandsons, Kevin Baran and David Baran (father: Brian Baran); one sister, Melonie Lynn Orr, of Falling Waters; and one brother, John A. Tabler, of Wilmington.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 1 p.m. today at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St, Bridgeton. The interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at Laurel Lawn in Upper Deerfield Twp.
