Donald H. Grove, Jr.

Donald H. Grove, Jr., 68, of Shepherdstown, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born March 29, 1946, in Berkeley County, he was the son of Wanda Jean Runkles Grove and the late Donald H. Grove, Sr.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with the USS New Jersey and USS Charles Ware.

He was a truck driver for 38 years, most recently employed by Hoffman Transport.

He was an officer for Ranson Police Department and a volunteer firefighter. He was a drummer for a local band, “Country Gentlemen.” Donald was one of the nicest guys to meet, with a big heart, who enjoyed camping, fishing and was a great garpenter.

He was a 1965 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Constance Gwinn Grove; one son, Eddie Grove and wife, Betsy; one stepson, Brett Blessing and wife, Tracy; one daughter, Deana M. Kirkwood and husband, Todd; six grandchildren, Kareena, Anna, Madison, Nathan, Chase and Chloe; one brother, Ronnie Grove; one sister, Mary J. Helmick and husband, Mike; aunts, Mae Riser, Dorothy Grubb and Nancy Poulson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Brown Funeral Home with Rev. John Yost officiating. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery.
