William “Sonny” Henry Hough Jr.

William “Sonny” Henry Hough Jr., 79, of Shepherdstown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born Feb. 27, 1935, in Kabletown, he was the son of the late William Henry Hough Sr. and Susan Electa Popkins Hough.

Sonny was of the Methodist faith and attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Bakerton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.

Sonny was past district grand master of the 15th Masonic District of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of West Virginia and past master of Logan Lodge No. 25 A.F. & A. M. in Harpers Ferry. He was a member of Osiris Temple Shriners in Wheeling and a member of the Harpers Ferry Alumni Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lora Jean, at home; one son, William Randolph Hough and wife, Edith, of Harpers Ferry; one granddaughter, Angela Hough and companion, Bobby, of Charles Town; one grandson, Matthew Hough and wife, Jamey, of Jacksonville, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Ezra Hough, of Frederick, Maryland and Adaline Hough and William Hough, of Jacksonville; two sisters, Sally Lilla, of Charles Town and Frances Longerbeam and husband, Harry, of Charles Town; one brother, George Hough and wife, Nancy, of Harpers Ferry; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Caniford Hough in 2004; son, Timothy Scott Hough in 2013; infant son, Thomas Aaron Hough, who passed away at birth; and one sister, Virginia Mercer.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, with Matthew Hough officiating.
