Arbutus “Boots” R. Kearns

Arbutus “Boots” R. Kearns, 91, of Shepherdstown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.
Born Feb. 15, 1923, in Berkeley County, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Margaret Hockman Henry.
Boots was active in her later years with charitable causes; the Senior Center; and volunteering with various organizations. She enjoyed company, friends, and many things outdoors. Boots had a life-long passion for fishing and enjoyed spending time with her “McDonald’s Friends.”
She was a devout Christian, which was shown through her spirituality.
She is survived by one son, G.R. Welsh, of Shepherdstown; and two grandchildren, Randy and Erin Welsh.
She had five brothers, Everett Henry, Aubrey Henry, Wesley Henry, Jonas Corbin, Phillip Corbin; and one sister, Estelle Corbin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Markwood Kearns; by her first husband, James Tabler, whom she married in 1942; her second husband, Randolph Welsh, whom she married in 1956; and one daughter, Margaret “Cookie” Joan Tabler.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
