Mary Jo Orr

Mary Jo Orr, 80, of Martinsburg, ended her battle with cancer on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at her residence.

Born June 15, 1934 in Berkeley County, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Carmen Calvert Hammann.

She had been an activity director for Sky-line Ranch Resort in Front Royal, Virginia and was a retired registered nurse.

She had been a Girl Scout and a leader for 25 years; she was also a die-hard Redskins fan. She enjoyed playing and coaching softball.

She is survived by a son, Ronnie Orr and wife, Melonie, of Falling Waters; one daughter, Cindy Jo Orr, of Inwood; four grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy, Brenda, and Michaela; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Conrad Hammann and wife, Mary Ann, of Shepherdstown, and Paul Hammann and wife, Lorraine, of Clinton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson “Obert” Orr Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Hall and the Rev. Jim Riley officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Martin Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401 or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 532 W Martin Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
