Mary Barker Diehl

Mary Barker Diehl, 52, of Charles Town, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.

She was born March 5, 1962, in Winchester, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Harry G. Barker Jr. and Margaret Malone Barker.

Mrs. Diehl was an office manager with Wee Disciples Christian Academy.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

Mary graduated from Jefferson High School, class of 1980 and Shepherd College, class of 1985, where she was a sorority sister of Mega Chi Alpha.

She was a member of Piedmont Garden Club, Jefferson Memorial Park Swim Team and was a cheerleader at Charles Town Junior High, Jefferson High School and Shepherd College. She also enjoyed horseback riding.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Thomas M. Diehl, at home; daughter, Caroline C. Diehl, of Charles Town; son, Bradley B. Diehl, of Charles Town; sisters, Betsy Malone Barker, of Charles Town and Margaret Faith Christine, of New York City; brother, Harry G. Barker III and wife, Kathy, of Charles Town; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 West North St., Charles Town, with the Rev. Duane Jensen officiating.

Interment will be at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at the church.
