Jessie “Mama Duck” “Mema” Louella Gray English
Jessie “Mama Duck” “Mema” Louella Gray English, 74, of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at her home.
Born Oct. 18, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Gray and Virginia Strickler Gray.
She was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School and Shepherd College. She was a retired RN, having worked at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and Heartland of Martinsburg.
Jessie was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. She was previously active at Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town, in the youth group, Sunday school, and the choir.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Lee Dinges and Rosie Loy of Weirton, and Scott Randolph Lowe and Becky Broussard of Hedgesville; four grandchildren, Richard Lee Dinges Jr. of Weirton, Dusty Allen Dinges and wife, Lori, of Martinsburg, Crystal Anne Barnhouse and husband, Kevin, of Harpers Ferry, Bradley Nathaniel Dinges of Gerrardstown; two great-grandchildren, Brentan Scott Barnhouse of Harpers Ferry, and Blake Edward Dinges and Samantha of Martinsburg; three sisters, Nancy Mae Ranalli of Millville, Terry Suzanne Colter and husband, Mike, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Lynn Hartman and husband, Tom, of Inwood; one brother, Robert Irving Grey and wife, Betty, of Halltown; special sister, Carla Crites and husband, Jim, of Charles Town; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scott B. English; a son, Harry E. “Sonny” Dinges; two brothers, Charles Andrew and Ramon Randolph Gray; two sisters, Phyllis Pauline Penwell; and Mary Elizabeth Grimes.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society, the American Cancer Society, or the Muscular Dystrophy Society.
