Donald Franklin “Don” Dyche

Donald Franklin “Don” Dyche, 73, of Shepherdstown, went home to be with God on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born March 5, 1942, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Earl Brooke and Laura Elva Ward Dyche.

He was the youngest of 14 siblings. He was in the graduating class of Martinsburg High School, but graduated from Frankfort High School in 1961. He was married to Sandra Adair Alderton on April 7, 1963, whom preceded him in death on June 27, 2014.

Don had retired from Continental Brick Company, where he put together samples in his later years. He had worked at K-Mart, City Hospital, and Cranes Men’s Shop as well.

He had received his Masonry Certificate from James Rumsey Technical Institute in 1984. He was easygoing, dedicated and friendly. He will be missed by many.

He enjoyed watching football games, and armchair-coaching the Redskins to victory or defeat. He had a love for movies and music. He also enjoyed being a grandfather and father. He liked camping and swimming, and was a Civil War buff.

Preceding him in death was his spouse, Sandra; and all but three of his siblings.

He is survived by three children, Christine Adair Hersh, Laura V. Remsburg and fiance, Robert Cuddy, and James Donald Dyche and wife, Melissa Lamp Dyche; his three remaining siblings, Wanda Church, James Dyche, and Gary Dyche; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Brown Funeral Home. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery.
