Clara Alberta Hunter Sadler
Clara Alberta Hunter Sadler, 103, of Tennessee, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Tennessee, with interment at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at First Presbyterian Church, Martinsburg. The Rev. Dr. Rufus T. Burton and the Rev. Robert S. Hill officiated.
Mrs. Sadler was born April 6, 1912, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late Edward Boone Hunter and Minnie Lee Hunter. She was a homemaker, and was always active in the women’s circles at the Presbyterian Church, where she was a member.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sadler is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ira Henry Sadler; and her daughter, Joann Otley.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Alberta (Nyle) Bland and Carol Sadler (Richard) Baker, both of Martinsburg; her sons, James Ira (Sandra) Sadler of Martinsburg, and Edward Clark (Marion) Sadler of Paris, Tennessee; brother, Eugene (Irene) Hunter of Cookeville; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 220 South Queen Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401; or the Alzheimer’s Association WV Chapter, Northern Regional Office, 1299 Pineview Drive, Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505.
Arrangements were handled by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, and Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.
