Mary Maxwell Rider Kline

Mary Maxwell Rider Kline, 86, of Charles Town, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Hospice Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville.
Born Jan. 24, 1929, in Halltown, she was the daughter of the late Norman Cavalier Rider and Loula Blauch Graham Rider.
She was a member of the Charles Town Presbyterian Church.
Mary was a graduate of Charles Town High School, class of 1947, where she played first-string basketball, and was a graduate of Shepherd College, class of 1956, and a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority.
She taught in several school systems, including Frederick County and Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and Jefferson County, retiring in 1988. She was a devoted wife to Bill since June 25, 1949. She was a loving mother and devoted a great deal of her time to the care of her daughter, Rebecca. Mary was a founding board member of the Jefferson Center for the education and training of exceptional needs children and adults. She was a former member of the Cotillion and a member of the Halltown Presbyterian Church in her earlier years. She loved her family, flowers and pets.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles William ‘Bill” Kline, at home; three daughters, Mary Rider Kline, Sarah Elizabeth Rogers and husband, Douglas Griffith, and Rebecca Ann Kline; granddaughter, Emma Grace Rogers; grandson, Wilson Graham Rogers; and cousin, Thomas Grove Hinkle.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Isabelle Rider and Jean Graham Rider; and one brother, Lt. John William Rider III.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. today, May 15, at Charles Town Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Bethard officiating.
