Brian J. Filon

Brian J. Filon, age 33, of Dorchester, Massachusetts, (known to his friend as “FI”) passed away on Aug/ 17, 2015 at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts.

Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, beloved son of Patricia Garay Filon of New Holland and the late Eugene A. Filon. Brian was a 1999 graduate of Pequea Valley High School. In 2008 he graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Communications and Journalism. He then went on to earn his masters degree at Shepherd University, graduating in 2013 with a degree in College Student Development.

He was employed by Tufts University, Boston, in Student Academic Services.

An avid animal lover Brian previously worked at the Humane Society of Washington County, Hagerstown, Maryland, where he rescued the love of his life, his dog Reuben.

Brian loved to travel, his favorite music group was Pearl Jam, which he was known to hop a flight and travel across the country to see. He was also known for his massive vintage t-shirt collection.

Surviving besides his mother are two siblings, Pamela, wife of Robert Beaver of New Holland and Raymond Riggin of New Holland.

A celebration of life will be held in Shepherdstown on Sept. 12. Arrangements by the Shivery Funeral Home, Christiana & Paradise.
