Frederick Iden Longerbeam
Frederick Iden Longerbeam, 79, Summit Point, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Longerbeam was born July 11, 1936, in Berryville, Virginia, the son of the late Luther Mason Longerbeam and Corinne Boersig Longerbeam.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1954 to1958, during the Korean War.
He retired from Potomac Edison and TransWorld Airlines. He was currently working at the Summit Point Raceway.
He married Barbara Ellen Jenkins on July 31, 1954, in Oceanside, California.
Surviving with his wife are his mother of Berryville, Virginia; a son, Frederick Iden Longerbeam Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Shepherdstown; two daughters, Nicole Leigh Longerbeam and Mary Beth Longerbeam, both of Summit Point; four brothers, James Longerbeam, Jesse Longerbeam, Richard Longerbeam and Danny Longerbeam; a sister, Barbara McWilliams; seven grandchildren, Danielle Watson, Ericka Brannon, Hannah Longerbeam, Emily Longerbeam, Nicholas Longerbeam, Pearl Ferrebee, and Luke Ferrebee; and two great-grandsons, Thomas Watson and Noah Watson.
A grandson, Frederick I. Longerbeam III; a sister, Gladys Longerbeam; and two brothers, Charles Longerbeam and Beverly Longerbeam, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Summit Point United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott J. Sassaman officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville. Military honors will be provided by Clarke County Honor Guard.
