thel Marie Frye Mauck, 75, of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Canterbury Center, Shepherdstown, where she called home.

Born July 11, 1940, in Bedington, Berkeley County, she was the daughter of Jesse Lee Frye and Ida Virginia (Willingham) Frye.

Mrs. Mauck was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.

She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Molers Cross Roads, where she was a member of the Methodist Women Group.

Ethel was a graduate of Shepherdstown High School, class of 1959.

She was a member of the Shepherdstown High School Alumni Association and did volunteer work for the Good Shepherd Interfaith Caregivers, Shepherdstown. She formerly helped with 4-H Clubs, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownie Troops.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry B. Mauck, at home; daughter, Stephanie Custer and husband, Christopher, of Shenandoah Junction; sons, Jesse “Jay” Mauck, of Ranson, Jerry Scott Mauck and wife, Patricia, of Harpers Ferry, Lamar Mauck and wife, Margaret, of Martinsburg and Daryl Mauck and wife Vickie, of Kearneysville; grandchildren, Jessica Springer, Brian Mauck, Ann Mauck, Aaron Mauck, Kyle Custer and Tyler Mauck; great-granddaughter, Shannon Mauck; sisters, Virginia F. Potts and Elca Frye, both of Shepherdstown; brother, Jesse E. Frye, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kenneth L.B. Mauck; and sister, Rosemary Frye.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, with Dr. Parker Hinzman officiating.

Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
