Evelyn “Whiskey” Bernard Dozier

Evelyn “Whiskey” Bernard Dozier, 67, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at his residence.

Born July 5, 1948, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Pearl Allen Creamer and James (Munchie) Hopewell and stepfather, John Preston Dozier.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church in Shepherdstown.

He is survived by his wife, Trudie “Sissy” Russ Dozier; children, Fontella Johnson, Bernard Winston (Cam), Chris Dozier (Laura) and Devin Dozier (Wendy); stepchildren, Celeste Brown, Yana Brown (Kenny), Darrell Hunter, Craig Walker (Lisa) and Veronique Walker; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Delilah Edwards, Vanessa Green, and Toni Hopewell; brothers, Preston Dozier Jr. (Cheryl), and Roger Hopewell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley; and a sister, Debbie Dozier.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel with Dr. Joe Lyles officiating. Interment will be private.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
