Mary Elizabeth “Sissy” Basey Brooks

Mary Elizabeth “Sissy” Basey Brooks, 81, of Shepherdstown, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born Dec. 3, 1933, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry Basey and Charlotte Devonshire Jackson.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

She had worked for Shepherd College for over 30 years, retiring in 1989.

Mary is survived by a son, Gary Brooks (Amy); five daughters, Lynn Myers (Raymond), Deborah McDaniel (Leo), Roxie Brooks, Bonita Brooks, and Tresina Shealey; 11 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Grantham; special friend, Paula Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Douglas Brooks; one grandson, Derrick McDaniel; and a brother, Jackie Boyd.

Funeral service were held at noon Monday, Nov. 30, with the Rev. Rudolph Bropleh officiating, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
