Danielle Marie (Harne) Jones

Danielle Marie (Harne) Jones, 49 years young, passed from this life into the presence of God on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, in Richmond, Virginia, after a valiant battle with cancer. Her will to live, love of her sons, and the support and prayers of her family members and friends, carried her.

Danielle was born Sept. 22, 1966, in Hagerstown, Maryland, graduating from Hedgesville High School in 1984, Shepherd University in 1988, and the University of Alabama with her Master’s Degree in Accounting in 1989. “Roll Tide!” (She would want us to say that.) Calling Chester, Virginia home for nearly 20 years, Danielle was involved in many parenting and home-school groups, as well as Sunday school teaching in her local church.

Danielle is survived by her parents, Howard and Dee (Dunn) Harne of Smithsburg, Maryland; three sons (the loves of her life), Austin, Sam and Palmer of Chester; brother, Dwayne Harne (wife, Lisa) of Hancock, Maryland; and family and friends who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilmer and Ruth (Billy Lovejoy) Dunn and Lee and Ruth (Willard) Harne, all from Smithsburg, Maryland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Smithsburg, Maryland, with the Pastor Todd Rigney officiating. A private family interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, at Danielle’s request, donations may be made to the Kara Tippetts Foundation, a non- profit organization supporting families whose loved ones enter their cancer journey at stage 4.
