Holland Kerfoot Moler, Jr.
Holland Kerfoot Moler, Jr. of Newport News, Virginia, son of Holland and Lillian Moler of Moler Crossroads, West Virginia, departed this life on Jan. 28, 2016.
Holland was born Feb. 3, 1931 in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He graduated from Shepherd High followed by one year at Shepherd College. In September of 1952, Holland married Jean Smith of Romney.
Holland served the U.S. Army for 20 years. During that time, he spent three years in Vietnam in the 1st Calvary Division and the 101st Airborne. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. After his retirement from the Army, Holland worked for the U.S. Postal service for 15 years in Newport News, Virginia and again retired in 1994.
Holland was an active member of the Masons for over 50 years. He took on many positions within this organization. He served as Master of the transportation lodge in Newport News and as the District Deputy Grand Master.
His wife, Jean Smith, preceded Holland in death in May of 2013. Holland leaves to cherish his memories his brother, Arthur Moler; his children, Charles G. Moler of Surry County, and Vicky Forsythe and husband, Tom, of Fort Mill, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Jessica Moler, Dixie Beddingfield, Holly Richardson, Kali Mink, Kierstyn Steward and Maddie Forsythe; and five great-grandchildren. Holland leaves acknowledgement and a special thank you to Linda Smith and the caregivers at All Around Personal Assistant, LLC.
Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 31, at Weymouth Funeral Home, Newport News, Virginia. Holland is interred in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
