Valeria C. Breeden
Valeria C. Breeden, 74, of Charles Town, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother to many others, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Winchester, Virginia Medical Center.
Born Sept. 10, 1941, in Natick, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of John M. Horan and Valeria (Urich) Horan.
Mrs. Breeden retired as an RN in the OBGYN department at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson. Also, she was employed with Panhandle Home Health. Prior, she worked for the Naval Shipyard in Portmouth, New Hampshire.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She graduated from Portmouth High School, class of 1959, Portmouth; and Shepherd College, class of 1981.
Valeria was a troop leader with the Girl Scouts of America; and a member of the Charles Town Junior High and Jefferson High School Band Boosters.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Randy A. Breeden, at home; four daughters, Mary L. Breeden and husband, Elwood, of Ranson, Kathryn C. Kiser, of Front Royal, Virginia, Michelle C. Whetzel, of Charles Town and Valeria J. Knotts and husband, Luther, of Bentonville, Virginia; son, John D. Breeden and wife, Karlynn, of Newark, Delaware; grandchildren, Woody Breeden, Matthew Walker, Joshua Walker, Courtney Fraley, Andrew Breeden, Emily Kiser, Randy Walker, Benjamen Kiser, Katlynn Luzzi, Brooke Luzzi, Grant Breeden, Timmy Whetzel, Taylor Whetezel, Keith Woodcock and Tori Knotts; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Francis W. Horan, Sr. and wife, Marylou, of Port Charlotte, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Pat Horan and James Horan.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funreal Home, Charles Town, with Father Mathew Rowgh officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
