Pamela Stanfield

Pamela Stanfield, 72, of Shepherdstown, passed away on March 14, 2016, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, after serious complications from surgery. She had been in declining health for a year.

She was born in Chamblee, Georgia (near Atlanta) and lived in Texas, California and then in Falling Waters, during her school years. She graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1961.

Pam left West Virginia in the mid 1960s to move to the DC area to make her mark as a hairdresser. She switched her career in the 70s to enter the exciting life as a cocktail waitress. In the early 1980s, she moved back to the Falling Waters area and became a waitress at several locations. After that, she moved to Shepherdstown, and worked for 19 years as a waitress at the Bavarian Inn.

Pam loved animals, especially horses, cats, and dogs. Her dog, Bingo, is still waiting for her to come home. The family has not had the heart to tell Bingo she’s not coming home.

Pam’s father, Edwin H. Stanfield, was a pilot in the U.S. Navy, and was retired from the Navy. He passed away in 1952. Pam’s mother was Myrtle McMillan White, who later married Ed White in the Falling Waters area, where he worked as a truck driver. Myrtle White was a teacher in the Berkeley County School system and taught for years at the Marlowe Elementary School. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 101.

Pam is survived by a brother, Eddie Stanfield, Middletown, Maryland; and a sister, Malinal Williford of Arlington, Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Pam will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Harmony United Methodist Church, 9455 Williamsport Pike, Falling Waters.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made to the Harmony United Methodist Church.
