He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Dec. 24, 1971.

He is survived by his wife, Emily and his daughter, Lily Ella Santy Glendenning.

Steve was the son of Rose Mary Reese, of Fairmont and Michael and Glenda Glendenning, of Kansas. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Leanne (Doug) Fansler and Kristy Romino; his sister-in-law, Ellie Santy; a niece, Allison Fansler; and nephews, Aaron Fansler and Nathaniel Romino. Also surviving are a special aunt and uncle, Fran and Bill Higgins; cousins, Kathy (Tom) O’Shell, Barbara (Jim) Mruk, and Billy (Amy) Higgins; and his in-laws, Pamela Nussear and Harold and Christine Santy.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, William and Mary Reese and Joseph and Dodie Glendenning.

Steve grew up in Fairmont, and graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1990, where he participated in the Busy Bee Band and Honeybees for four years.

He graduated from Fairmont State College in 1995, with a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Oral Communication. After graduation, Steve began his career at Jefferson High School teaching science, but his true passion was theater and the arts. He described himself as an acting teacher, actor, casting director, producer, prop master, set builder, stage director and theater director. Among his awards and state recognitions are JHS Teacher of the Year in 2012; WV Thespians Theater Teacher of the Year 2008; member of the Educational Theater Association since 1997; and a member of the WV Education Association since 1996. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family. He married Emily, his high school sweetheart, in 1999, and considered her to be his muse. He took his beloved daughter Lily to Shepherdstown on Sunday mornings for chocolate milk and donuts, and Steve said that Lily was his “best girl.” Steve enjoyed gardening, cooking, and deer hunting at his Uncle Billy’s camp in Coburn, with his cousin, Billy.

A memorial service is being planned to celebrate Steve’s life at a later date.

The family wants to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire community of Martinsburg for their incredible kindness and compassion.
