Emory “Sonny” Kidwiler
Emory “Sonny” Kidwiler, 71, of Harpers Ferry, passed away Monday, July 11, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Sonny, a loving husband, father, and grandfather was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church in Shepherdstown.
He was born Jan. 21, 1945, in Charles Town, to the late Harwood and Charlotte Kidwiler. He graduated from Shepherdstown High School in 1962, where he stared in both baseball and football.
Upon graduation, he served in the United States Air force until May 1965. On March 11, 1968, he married the love of his life, the former Patricia Ann Lehman.
Sonny was employed at General Motors in Martinsburg, where he retired after 30 years of employment. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman.
Some of his fondest memories were the years he spent in Little League baseball coaching his two sons.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Kidwiler; two sons, Ronald and wife, Sherri and Wayne and fiance, Joy; four grandchildren, Ryan and Holly Kidwiler, Corey McDonald, and Destiny Kidwiler; three sisters, Judy Ficklin and husband Jerry, Myna Wandles and husband Steve and Linda Halter and husband Rick.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, with Pastor Van Marsceau officiating.
