Ronda “Jo” Wilcox
Ronda “Jo” Wilcox, 77, of Shepherdstown, passed away July 17, 2016 at Berkley Medical Center, surrounded by family after a struggle with esophageal cancer.
Born Aug. 28, 1938 in Centerburg, Ohio, she then moved to Washington, D.C. and had a successful career with the federal government.
She and her husband of nearly 54 years raised three daughters in Great Falls, Virginia. Family was her passion and delight. She spent the last 17 years of her life enjoying her four grandchildren, especially hosting Sunday night dinners for her family in Shepherdstown.
Ronda is survived by her husband Alfred Wilson “Pa Bill” Wilcox; one sister, Patsy Bonnette (Jim) of Mount Vernon Ohio; three daughters, Dana Marie Cifala (Steve) of Kearneysville, Sandra Wilcox of Shepherdstown and Wendy Brown (Thad) of Shepherdstown; four grandchildren, Ariel, Jo jo, Gigi and Mason; also by countless numbers of community members and extended family who loved her for her inclusive nature that made friends feel like family.
Ronda was known as “Ma Jo” to the local community. She created and inspired much love in this world. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
A memorial service is planned for 5 p.m. Saturday July 30, at the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church. Attendees are asked to wear Ma Jo’s favorite colors- blue and green to create an ocean of love.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Hilary Campaign or the cancer charity of your choice. A birthday party, The Great 78, will be held on Ma Jo’s birthday, on Aug. 28, at the Train Station in Shepherds-town from 1-3 p.m. Please bring a dish to share.
