Jane Jeanette Busey

Sep 2, 2016

Jane Jeanette Busey, 87, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends. The spirit of the Lord was truly in the mist.

She was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Shepherdstown, to the late John Dewitt and Sara Jane Jacobs.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown for over 80 years. She retired from the Veterans Administration in Martinsburg, after working several different positions. She enjoyed caring for people.

She moved to Chino Hills, California, in January 2013, after the death of her husband, Bailey Costello Busey, Jr. They were together for 60 years. After moving to California, Jane became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ontario, where she attended faithfully and also attended Thursday Senior Bible Study classes. She leaves to share her memory four children, Cynthia Annette Brown and husband, Walter, of Martinsburg, Bailey Costello Busey III of Lawton, Oklahoma, Sharika Abdul-Muhaimin and husband, Kamaal, of Shepherdstown, and Tina Marie Carr of Chino Hills. Also, she leaves to share her memory, one brother, Dewitt Jacobs of Shepherdstown; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one uncle; and one godchild. There are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly as well.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hortense Evelyn Brown; son, Michael Dewitt Busey; daughter, Leslie Nannette Busey; and son-in-law, Robert Vincent Carr.

Our mother was truly a giver. She was an exceptional cook and baker. She loved sharing her masterpieces, whether it was a pie, cake or casserole. She is now singing in God’s heavenly choir, and will be truly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4257 Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown.

We will mourn our loss, but we know that life is a journey and not a destination. Our destination is to be in the presence of our Heavenly Father, so until we see you again, we love you!
